"The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry."
~ Ernest Hemingway, A Farewell To Arms

"Our lives disconnect and reconnect, we move on, and later we may touch one another, again bounce away. This is the felt shape of a human life, neither simply linear nor wholly disjunctive nor endlessly bifurcating, but rather this bouncey sequence of bumping into's and tumblings apart."
~ Salman Rushdie, The Ground Beneath Her Feet

Not Lost Is True

In a dream she walked up to him and spoke no words, only touched his hand. He asked her, "do you remember counting the change we kept in an old coffee cup to see if we had enough to rent a movie?" She didn't answer, only turned and walked away. It’s strange he thought when you are talking to the one you love and realize she is hearing someone else's voice. He gave her all he thought a woman would want and then realized although it was all she wanted, she just did not want to have it with him. He woke up from his dream and knew love is accepting the loss of love and was thankful for what he lost. For what is not lost is true.
