"The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry."
~ Ernest Hemingway, A Farewell To Arms

"Our lives disconnect and reconnect, we move on, and later we may touch one another, again bounce away. This is the felt shape of a human life, neither simply linear nor wholly disjunctive nor endlessly bifurcating, but rather this bouncey sequence of bumping into's and tumblings apart."
~ Salman Rushdie, The Ground Beneath Her Feet

My Week...The Winner Takes It All...

  1. Thinking about music.......I find it interesting when I think about myself & music that I never listened to the words only the music. That may sound strange, but the reason is that the music had to be good to dance to.
Usually the lyrics were not clear enough to understand or if they were, they were not important to me. I wonder if listening to the words over & over again would be the same as brainwashing a person????
If you listen to Christian music we seem to be uplifted, other music I don't know. For myself, when I make myself listen to music, I find it depresses me, depending on what is being said in the song.
"Because music penetrates deeper than words, even deeper than pain, it is curative even in the direst of situations." Mary Pipher
Does this mean instrumental music, the psalms put to music, or all music?
I know that that the scriptures say make music unto the Lord.I believe this is a healing gift from God and brings us into a right relationship to God.
Or what does it mean when God delights in our music making. His Spirit participates as we praise Him with song. He even sings back to us.
"The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save . He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."from God's Word.
I love listening to music as well, but I am really wondering if listening to certain words, not the music, over & over does something to our minds. Do we have to be deprogrammed?????
"There is a delicate, complex relationship between body, soul, and spirit, We are so wonderfully and fearfully made that a disruption in our physical health can cloud our mind and alter our mood, just as anger, fear, or a loss of hope can affect the chemistry of our body." Do you think that music can do the same thing? Writing is as powerful a weapon as music. It should not surprise us that God the Creator is a musician, an artist, a writer and He communicates to us through those mediums.
"Many writers have come to their craft only after they have been shattered by life in some way." Christopher Volger
"Who can take away suffering without entering it? Henry Nouwen
I pray everyday that our Father in heaven blesses you with new life in Jesus. And may you also write music to the Lord. It is difficult to understand how depression attacks certain people, you are always in our prayers, love you.
