"The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry."
~ Ernest Hemingway, A Farewell To Arms

"Our lives disconnect and reconnect, we move on, and later we may touch one another, again bounce away. This is the felt shape of a human life, neither simply linear nor wholly disjunctive nor endlessly bifurcating, but rather this bouncey sequence of bumping into's and tumblings apart."
~ Salman Rushdie, The Ground Beneath Her Feet

UnWanted...

“Wasn’t that the definition of home? Not where you are from, but where you are wanted?”
~ Abraham Verghese

I no longer know
Where I am wanted
Where I think I am wanted
I cannot be
The exigencies of life deflate me
I think this deflation
Is the sound of me sighing
The expunging of a little life
 From my being
With each exhalation

(Graphic: Christopher Fletcher)

The unwanted
Wander
The world
Homeless
Straddling the in-betweens
Of cartography
Balanced on the raphe of a seed
Without a hole to be buried in

  1. If only you can stay with those who love you & want you. Where those who love you want you to feel that your home is a safe haven while going through the storms of life.
For all those who feel the sadness of being unwanted.....For this they have Jesus, who will bring others into their lives, those who will love them....God's tender mercies...love you mom.
