"The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry."
~ Ernest Hemingway, A Farewell To Arms

"Our lives disconnect and reconnect, we move on, and later we may touch one another, again bounce away. This is the felt shape of a human life, neither simply linear nor wholly disjunctive nor endlessly bifurcating, but rather this bouncey sequence of bumping into's and tumblings apart."
~ Salman Rushdie, The Ground Beneath Her Feet

Thought...John Elderidge...

"Can you recall a time when a significant someone in your life sat you down with the sole purpose of wanting to know your heart more deeply, fully expecting to enjoy what he found there? More people have climbed Mt. Everest than have experienced real pursuit, and so what are we left to conclude? There is nothing in our hearts worth knowing. Whoever and whatever this mystery called I must be, it cannot be much.

“In fact,” we continue, “if I am not pursued, it must be because there is something wrong with me, something dark and twisted inside.” We long to be known, and we fear it like nothing else. Most people live with a subtle dread that one day they will be discovered for who they really are and the world will be appalled."

  1. Revealing our feelings is the beginnng of healing. Articulating what's on our heart,
confessing our mistakes, is the first step in
seeing that God can forgive those mistakes and all others.
Christ gave each one of us the special gift of
grace, showing how generous He is.
I think we can reveal our hearts to one another only when we are sure we will be gracious to one another.

  2. The following are a couple of quotes that I love and hope will help you in your journey of healing:

"You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star." Friedrich Nietzche

"We must become the change we want to see." Mahatma Gandhi

"No one, Eleanor Roosevelt said, can make you feel inferior wihout your consent. Never give it." Marian Wright Edelman

"It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power." Alan Cohen

"Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today." James Dean
