"The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry."
~ Ernest Hemingway, A Farewell To Arms

"Our lives disconnect and reconnect, we move on, and later we may touch one another, again bounce away. This is the felt shape of a human life, neither simply linear nor wholly disjunctive nor endlessly bifurcating, but rather this bouncey sequence of bumping into's and tumblings apart."
~ Salman Rushdie, The Ground Beneath Her Feet

Dogs, Job and Suffering…

The best thing about dogs is they will not try to fix you. They will simply be in easy silence with you.

Dogs know what Jobs friends did not and what Job came to know. Which is this, the most beautifully sublime and horribly dark painful moments in life are not heard but seen and felt and even in the seeing and the feeling answers are seldom if ever given.

It is in the communinal silence of friendship we are comforted and know joy.

Dogs will sit in silence and enter into your life without reservations or misgivings, simply to be with you on the journey.

Perhaps God gifted humanity with dogs for she knew how difficult it would be for us to be with and enter into the most difficult of hours with one another and not speak but just be present.

So we are to learn somehow from our canine friends how to be human and loving to each other without having to say the right thing but to sit with, hold a hand, wipe a tear and let someone know you will never leave them no matter how dark life may be.
